West Ham have told Marko Arnautovic he will not be sold in this window.
West Ham have rejected a £35million bid from an unnamed Chinese club, understood to be champions Shanghai SiPG.
Although there are tax limits on what Chinese clubs can pay foreign players, 29-year-old Arnautovic is understood to have a £200,000-a-week contract on the table.
West Hamare expecting a fresh offer in the summer which could test their resolve to keep him.
But, as things stand, the Hammers are keen to back Manuel Pellegrini who wants the Austrian to stay.
Arnautovic is West Ham’s joint-top scorer this season with eight goals in 17 games in all competitions.
He moved to London Stadium for a record £22m fee from Stoke in July 2017 and scored 11 times for West Ham last season.
Arnautovic is under contract until 2022 and seen as pivotal to the Hammers' climb up the Premier League table under Pellegrini.
