FG says DSS blocked Entrance to National Assembly “without the knowledge of the Presidency”

The presidency has revealed that Tuesday’s blockage of the national assembly entrance by masked operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) was “done without the knowledge of the Presidency”. This was made known in a statement on the presidency’s Twitter handle.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had earlier sacked the DSS director general Lawal Daura following the incident. The statement condemned the act, adding that “all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.”

Acting President @ProfOsinbajo has described the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex earlier today as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order. According to him, the unlawful act, which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable, and completely unacceptable.

By this statement, the Acting President is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.

Rivers Government opens Endowment Fund for Hero Joseph Blankson’s Children

The Rivers State Government has opened an endowment fund for the 2 kids of Joseph Blankson who saved 13 people in a boat accident.

A boat Joseph had been riding in had capsized and one by one he saved 13 passengers, pulling them ashore. He had attempted saving the 14th person when, exhausted, he drowned.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, shared on his Facebook that the endowment fund was revealed while he received Blankson’s wife, children and extended family at the Government House on Monday.

Joseph’s wife, Mercy, was also employed by the Rivers State Government. Wike also donated to the burial of the late hero.

Senator Remi Tinubu ordained as Assistant Pastor in RCCG

Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been ordained as an Assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The ordination service which held on the second day of the church’s 66th annual convention, had Tinubu’s husband and All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Bola Tinubu in attendance.

Lagos Police restores Order after Riot in Ketu

A riot ensued in Ketu-Alapere area of Lagos State on Tuesday, 7th August 2018 afternoon.

A video shared on social media showed youths in the area storming an unknown location armed with weapons. Although the reason for the riot is unconfirmed, several motorcycles have been burnt.

Officers with the Lagos State Police Rapid Response Squad arrived at the scene to restore order, putting out the fire.
